Closing Ceremony Part One
So the first Winter Youth Olympic Games draw to an close.
The closing ceremony the final event of these games.
An occasion very much a mixture of formality and fun.

competition, culture, education and friendship, we have come to the Closing Ceremony of the first Winter Youth
Olympic Games, Innsbruck 2012 "
The Medals Plaza in the centre of Innsbruck is where the victory ceremonies have taken place each night at the
conclusion of the day's sporting action.
* upsound 18:50:12: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Governor of Tyrol Gunther Platter and the President of the
International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge."
Like everyone else, the President of the IOC Jacques Rogge and the Governor of Tyrol Gunther Platter have
enjoyed these Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Their vision was to inspire young people around the world to participate in sport and adopt Olympic values.
Next the stars of the show...

The atmosphere inside the Medals Plaza very relaxed and informal - the purpose of the evening to officially close
the Games - and have a party.
An opportunity for athletes to come together to share a few memories and toast new friends.
More than 1,000 youngsters have spent the last 10 days competing on snow and ice.

Innsbruck has made Olympic history, becoming the first city to host the Olympic family three times. The Austrian
city was host of the 1964 and 1976 Olympic Winter Games.

A total of 70 nations sent teams to these Games - different cultures brought together under the banner of Olympic
sport.
As is tradition, the flag parade led by Greece, birthplace of the Ancient Olympic Games.
As always, the flag of the host nation, Austria, the last in the parade.
Closing Ceremony Part Two
The volunteers are an essential part of any Olympics. In Innsbruck they've played a huge part in making these Games such a success.
The athletes keen to show their thanks for their efforts. (as flowers are handed over)

The first Winter Youth Olympic Games are about to officially come to an end.

The second Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in the Norwegian town of Lillehammer in 2016...

accompanied by Benjamin Gogl, a young representative of Innsbruck, and Lillehammer's Mayor, Espen Johnsen,

International Olympic Committee for the Olympic Flag Handover Ceremony.

Closing Ceremony Part Four
Once the Closing Ceremony was over the athletes made their way through the streets of Innsbruck to the
Congress Centre in the Olympic Village for a farewell party.
