I’ve been working with the YOG for a long time now and to finally be a part of it and to be actually at the venue and watching the ski racing is awesome.

Athlete Question: I just wonder how if you have a bad day if you feel down how you get up and get that strength to keep on going and keep the good mood.

Lindsey Answer: I have a lot of bad days especially in the summer – it’s really hard to wake up when it’s a beautiful day and you go inside and you stay in the gym. It’s really hard. But I always think about what are my competitors are doing and how can I work harder than they are and the only way I’m going to succeed is if I work harder than they do and that means getting up, getting out of bed and heading to the gym.

Well its just younger. I mean the YOG is all about the experience and having fun and really learning a lot. I think that once you get the actual Olympic Games there’s so much more pressure and its sometimes hard to enjoy all the fun and the unique opportunities that you get to experience being in an Olympics, so the YOG is a place where they can actually really enjoy themselves and they can compete but at the same time have a lot of fun and that’s something that you don’t always get so I think this is really cool.

You know the nutrition is such a big oart of being an athlete and the kids are really going to get a good opportunity to really learn more about nutrition. I know that I didn’t learn about nutrition until I was in my early 20’s so this is a great opportunity for them just to lead a healthy lifestyle

I arrived in from Vancouver a couple of days ago and so far it’s a great great venue.
Everything seems so fabulous here. it’s a mega, mega set-up. I think for me especially to have my brother competing in the curling made it even extra special. We’ve still got a few more events to go and I think for me being a role model all the cultural programmes are working really well for the athletes.

It’s the first one. It’s the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games, so I think they feel hugely privileged and honoured to be here. I think the competition has been fantastic and they’ve just thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the big thing they will go back with huge amount of learning and they’ll know exactly where they are, their sport will know where they are, they get to benchmark against some of the worlds best athletes in their own age group so I think from a development point of view its just priceless, so again well done to the IOC for putting these on. I think it’s the start of something very very special
