Innsbruck 2012 will showcase over 1,000 young athletes representing their countries. They will compete in the same 15 disciplines (biathlon, bobsleigh, skeleton, curling, ice hockey, figure skating, luge, short speed track skating, speed skating, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, nordic combined, ski jumping, and snowboard) as those on the programme for the Olympic Winter Games.
Just like for Singapore 2010, new events have been introduced into the sports programme: they include mixed gender events as well as the first ever Olympic inclusion of women’s ski jumping.
Champions Lindsey Vonn (alpine skiing), Sid Crosby (Ice Hockey), Yuna Kim (figure skating), Benjamin Raich (Alpine skiing) and Kevin Rolland (freestyle skiing) will put their extensive experience and talents to valuable use as Youth Olympic Games Ambassadors for Innsbruck 2012.
Athletes will also attend a comprehensive Culture and Education Programme (CEP), which will allow them to address key issues and learn new skills in a fun and interactive way.
During Innsbruck 2012, AP Corporate Services will be offering a series of video news releases.
